On the eve of the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon in the United States in 2001, President Barack Obama addressed the nation about the intentions of the United States to prevent Al Asad, the leader of Syria, from using chemical weapons in the future and to send a message to the international community that using these types methods in war is unacceptable. After watching the video in class of President Obama's address, what do you think?

I have a few things I would like to point out about military action in Syria. Firstly, if this is supposed to be pinprick precision and is only to deter Chemical warfare, why is Canada expected to be involved? I won't lie, I'm all for action in Syria because even if civilians weren't involved, gassing just the rebels still be against humanity and without stopping them, we are just leaving them open to do it again or Impower another country or regime to follow. Athough Russia has almost abandoned Syria, there is no reason why Syria can't gain other America hating allies, I think this may be the right first step, but we must tread lightly

I think it's a good id because they broke an international law by using deadly chemicals to kill thousands of people including children. I think President Obama's idea to make peace to try and stop war is a very good idea because if it works the it would be saving thousand of people, but if it doesn't, it could very possibly create World War 3; but its never too late to try so I say GO FOR IT! 👍

I don't think the people from the Afghanistan war would like this because they are just getting back from 12 years of war and now their just gonna get sent on another one right as they get back. It is putting more lives on the line that have suffered enough already. It's not right in my opinion. 👎

I think that this is a good decision. This is because it makes me sick to know that adults and children are deing from chemical weapons; especially because these are banned. If we just let this go, more people might think you can get away with useing some chemical weapons. Hopefully by sending them a message, they will see that we do care and support this law fully. President Oboma said that 98% of the world has agreed to banning chemical warfare. I really wish that we could honestly say 100% of the world agreed to this, but we can not. Even worse is that Syberia agreed to banning chemical warfare, yet it seems that they forget.

I agree with the president. With Russia now on our side the chance of full out war or even world war 3 is now almost at a minimum. Although if this nation chooses to go with a terrorist organization we could see another attack on America and this is the last thing that American citizens need right now. The U.S needs to get rid of these weapons and insure that no other nation will ever use these again. What we need to do is destroy all know ways to create these gasses so other nations will have a harder time creating them. I however disagree with a small pin prick strike. I think that we need to either get rid of this dictator or help evacuated more people for the country. The rebels and the government in Syria are in this fight and while we are willing to help they need to settle this

I believe that Obama is right. That we shouldn't just stand by and watch innocent Syrians get killed by chemical weapons. If we do, we're pretty much sending them and the rest of the world a message saying " Good job, keep up the good work of killing innocent people and using chemical war far". The main thing is to stop innocent people from getting killed and stop the use of chemical weapons.

I agree with the president as well. It is sickening to think of children be murdered. I'm glad that he took it to congress, before just launching a military strike. I hope that they manage to

I agree and disagree to Obama's speech, because what he was trying to get out there was that he wants to stop the war. Which I think is great! I agree with to his theory on making war stop. But what I disagree with is that some people may not want war to stop and could be very angry (that's not good.) I feel that this could be dangerous because what if other countries really don't agree and are extremely angry about it? They could just end up starting a war about it anyway. But I also feel that its a really good thing to stop war, because it would mean that a lot less people are dying, and their family can stay a happy family. :-)

I agree with Obama because I think that now that we have Russia on our side, the probability of another war starting up is really high. I am quite glad that America is the "police" in this situation because quite honestly I really don't want Canada in that position. (NMT)

I think you all have some great ideas and concerns. What will happen if we do nothing? Who would be better than the USA to act to deter Syria and other extremist groups from using chemical weapons in the future? We need to do something, we are all in agreement, but WHAT is to be done? and by WHOM?
